I’ve never stopped being in love with the written word
My name is Oana Clapa, and this is my story.
I have always been in love with reading, ever since I can remember. I was about 5 when I first picked up a book (a small one for kids, obviously), and I’ve never stopped since. Early on in high school I already knew I would work with the written word somehow – whether it would be translations or actual writing, I didn’t know because I couldn’t choose. I learned English on my own and I worked hard for French, sailed through my university education, and now, 20 years later, I am still dedicated to this industry.
I have done general writing, technical writing, translations, and even literary ones. It feels so empowering to be on the other side of the fence; to be the writer, not the reader. Now I am the one who makes words come to life, who takes from the world’s knowledge and shares it with those want to learn.
A new step on the journey
I have been focusing on translations for a great part of my career, only writing pieces here and there, sporadically, when I was offered a wonderful opportunity for technical writing several years ago. It was mostly about software and end-client communications, and what a wonderful learning curve it has turned out to be…
Since then I have tried learning and growing, and I am so excited to carry this further!
